A four-year-old boy died Sunday morning after being struck by a car that crashed into the BWS store at the Southlands Shopping Centre in Mawson, Canberra, around 10:20 a.m.
Emergency services responded, treating the child at the scene before transporting him to Canberra Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver was taken to hospital for observation and is cooperating with ACT Police’s Major Collision Team, which is investigating the incident.
The crash marks the second road fatality in the ACT for 2026, and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
Police are urging witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers ACT.
