Minnesota activates National Guard to aid protests after ICE agent shoots Renee Good.

In response to the ongoing protests in Minneapolis following the shooting death of Renee Good by an ICE agent, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has put the National Guard on standby to assist law enforcement. Although the Guard is not stationed on city streets, it is ready to support peaceful protest rights, help with traffic control, and protect people and property. The action comes after a federal judge's injunction restricting the actions of federal agents during Operation Metro Surge, increased tensions, and a second shooting involving ICE. Although no charges have been brought, the Justice Department is looking into claims that Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey obstructed federal immigration enforcement. As protests continue, roadblocks and other security measures are in place due to the cold weather.
