The CBI arrested Tamanna Chakma, also known as Tamie May, in Guwahati after she evaded capture for over a decade following her 2024 conviction in a corruption case tied to the misappropriation of compensation bills from NPCC Limited in Mizoram.
She was among 23 convicted in the 14-year-old case, which involved alleged fund misuse linked to a project in Silchar, Assam.
Chakma had failed to appear during trial or after sentencing, prompting an arrest warrant.
The CBI located her through surveillance, call data analysis, and field verification in Geeta Nagar.
She was taken into custody and is set to be transferred to Aizawl for further legal proceedings.
