On January 16, Assam Rifles intercepted a suspicious vehicle in Siaha district, Mizoram, seizing 140.82 million Burmese Kyat and arresting one person near Lungbun village, based on intelligence about illegal currency movement. The suspect and funds were handed to police. This follows a January 2 operation with Mizoram Police near Kaifang, where 11.062 kg of methamphetamine, valued at Rs 33.186 crore, was recovered along with a vehicle and suspect Hasan Ali from Assam’s Badarpur district. Both incidents targeted cross-border trafficking near the India-Myanmar border.
