A 22-year-old man was shot during a Wichita home invasion robbery and remains in serious but stable condition.
A home invasion robbery in east Wichita Thursday night led to a shootout, leaving a 22-year-old suspect with multiple gunshot wounds.
Officers responded to gunshots and a Gunshot Detection System alert before 911 calls, finding the suspect injured and initiating life-saving efforts.
The incident began when three armed suspects entered a woman’s home, reportedly robbing her.
When her 23-year-old boyfriend and a 22-year-old friend arrived, one suspect exited the home, pointed a gun at the boyfriend, and a struggle ensued, followed by gunfire.
The suspect was shot and remains in serious but stable condition at a hospital, in police custody, and will face aggravated robbery, kidnapping, and assault charges.
The other two suspects fled and remain at large.
Three individuals initially detained were identified as victims and released.
The case will be reviewed by the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
