Uttarakhand sealed 250 illegal madrasas and cleared 10,000 acres of encroached land to protect cultural identity and law and order.
The Uttarakhand government has sealed over 250 unauthorized madrasas and removed encroachments from more than 10,000 acres of government land, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said on January 17, 2026.
He cited efforts to protect the state’s cultural identity, uphold laws, and prevent radical education, stressing commitment to social balance and law and order.
In a separate event, Dhami participated in a virtual workshop on disaster risk reduction at IIT Roorkee, discussing AI-based early warnings, drone surveillance, GIS mapping, and improved coordination among agencies to combat landslides, cloudbursts, and forest fires.
The state is implementing a 10-point agenda aligned with Prime Minister Modi’s 4P framework—Predict, Prevent, Prepare, Protect—to strengthen resilience across the Himalayan region.
