Russian man arrested in India for killing two Russian women in Goa; motive unknown.
A Russian man, Aleksei Leonov, 37, was arrested in Goa, India, in connection with the murders of two Russian women, Elena Kasthanova and Elena Vaneeva, both 37, found dead in Arambol and Morjim on January 14–15, 2026.
Both victims were reportedly tied and stabbed with a sharp weapon, with Leonov confessing to the second killing and leading police to Vaneeva’s body.
He was apprehended early Friday and booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder and wrongful restraint.
The motive remains unknown, and forensic investigations are ongoing.
