A new emergency care unit opened at Russells Hall Hospital, boosting capacity and technology for the Black Country.

A new state-of-the-art resuscitation unit has opened at Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley, part of a major redevelopment project funded in 2020. The upgraded emergency department features advanced medical technology, dedicated pediatric areas, pandemic isolation rooms, and an improved bereavement suite. Digital innovations, including a digital medicine system, aim to enhance care delivery. The project, managed by the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust with partners Mitie and Summit Healthcare, was completed by Speller Metcalfe in a live hospital environment. Officials and local leaders praised the facility for improving patient care and staff capabilities, with the upgrades expected to meet emergency care demands across the Black Country for at least the next decade.
