India’s envoy in Cairo met Egyptian officials to boost ties in trade, tech, and climate, highlighting strong bilateral links.
On January 17, 2026, India’s Union Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh attended a kite festival in Cairo organized by the Indian diaspora, highlighting cultural ties.
He met with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty to discuss strengthening bilateral relations in trade, investment, pharmaceuticals, technology, tourism, and preparations for the India-Arab Foreign Ministerial Meeting.
Singh also held talks with Egypt’s Minister of Local Development and Environment, Dr. Manal Awad, focusing on sustainable development, renewable energy, climate financing, waste management, and agricultural cooperation.
The visit underscores growing strategic ties between India and Egypt, building on their 1947 diplomatic relations and shared history as founding members of the Non-Aligned Movement.
