Electronics manufacturing in India, especially mobile phones, has grown 146% under the PLI scheme from FY2021 to FY2025, reaching ₹5.45 lakh crore, driven by $4 billion in foreign investment, with 70% going to PLI beneficiaries.
Despite a ₹1.97 lakh crore budget, disbursements totaled only ₹23,946 crore by September 2025—12% of the target—though momentum is rising, with ₹10,112 crore disbursed in FY2025 and ₹4,113 crore in H1FY26.
Cumulative investments reached ₹2 lakh crore, and incremental production exceeded ₹18.7 lakh crore.
The largest allocations went to large-scale electronics, automobiles, solar PV modules, and advanced chemistry cell batteries.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said electronics production and exports have grown sixfold and eightfold respectively over the past 11 years.
