Former Estherwood officer Gregory Mire sentenced to 15 years for child sex abuse, including incidents during 2022 parade.
Gregory Mire, a former Estherwood police officer, has pleaded guilty to child sex abuse charges and was sentenced to 15 years in prison without parole, probation, or suspension. He admitted to carnal knowledge of a juvenile and two counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile. The case stems from 2023 arrests related to sexual misconduct with a minor, including allegations of abuse during the 2022 Christmas parade. Additional charges were filed in 2024 after further evidence emerged. Mire, who was not actively serving at the time of arrest, was terminated. His wife, an alderwoman and officer, was charged but not indicted. The investigation was transferred to the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office due to departmental ties. The victim, now 17, testified in court.
