Eros sues makers of 'Tere Ishk Mein' over alleged unauthorized use of 'Raanjhanaa'’s intellectual property.
Eros International has sued Aanand L Rai, Colour Yellow Media, T-Series, Netflix, and writer Himanshu Sharma in the Bombay High Court, seeking ₹84 crore in damages over allegations that the 2025 film Tere Ishk Mein unlawfully used the intellectual property of the 2013 film Raanjhanaa. Eros claims the film was promoted as a spiritual sequel without permission, using phrases like “From the world of Raanjhanaa” and hashtags suggesting a connection, while mirroring characters, themes, and emotional arcs. Though some promotional references were removed after cease-and-desist notices in July and September 2025, Eros argues the film still exploits Raanjhanaa’s brand, violating its exclusive rights to trademarks, characters, and sequel rights. The case is ongoing.
