Engineers India Limited has completed the world’s longest horizontal directional drilling crossing at 4,058 meters beneath the Brahmaputra River, setting a new record for a 26-inch crude oil pipeline.
The feat is part of the 1,635-kilometer Paradip–Numaligarh Crude Oil Pipeline project, which will transport imported crude from Odisha to Assam, enhancing India’s energy security and supporting regional development.
The milestone surpasses EIL’s prior record of 4,027 meters under the Ganga River and was achieved through collaboration with Numaligarh Refinery Limited and contractors.
