Carnatic musician Meena Subramanian of Coimbatore was awarded the "Kovai Subri Muruga Gana Award" on January 12, 2026, during the 29th Pongal Music Festival's inauguration.
Honored for her lifetime contributions, she was recognized for her vocal excellence, teaching, and efforts to preserve Carnatic music through mentorship, workshops, and performances globally, including at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
