Bulgaria has officially joined the eurozone as a full member effective January 1, 2026, ending its transitional status with no possibility of exit, according to EU sources.
The country now participates fully in eurozone governance, attending its first Eurogroup meeting on January 19, where Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova will represent it.
The session also marks the start of Greek Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierakakis’s role as new Eurogroup president.
