Arkansas closes wildlife areas Jan. 19–March 31, 2026, for feral hog control via aerial operations.
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will temporarily close multiple wildlife management areas from January 19 to March 31, 2026, to allow aerial feral hog control operations by USDA’s APHIS Wildlife Services.
Closures, lasting one to two days each, are flexible and weather-dependent, affecting sites including Big Lake, Bayou Meto, and Raft Creek Bottoms.
The effort, funded at no cost to the AGFC, aims to reduce feral hog populations threatening ecosystems and farmland.
Public access will be restricted during operations for safety, with enforcement staff present.
The agency urges cooperation and notes the closures are necessary for effective wildlife management.
