Scottish Labour MSP Pam Duncan-Glancy quits after admitting friendship with convicted child sex offender Sean Morton.
Scottish Labour MSP Pam Duncan-Glancy has announced she will not seek re-election, stepping down as education spokeswoman after it was revealed she maintained a personal friendship with Sean Morton, a twice-convicted child sex offender.
Morton, released in autumn 2025 after serving a 16-month sentence for possessing indecent images, had been convicted in 2017 and again in 2025.
The relationship drew widespread criticism, with political figures and a whistleblower calling it inappropriate given Duncan-Glancy’s role in safeguarding and victim advocacy.
She cited a desire to avoid distraction for her party and will serve until the May election.
Scottish Labour leader Humza Yousaf expressed concern over the friendship, calling it inappropriate, though no formal action has been taken.
