Masdar secured $225M for a solar and battery project in Uzbekistan that will power 60,000 homes and cut 400,000 tons of CO2 yearly.
Masdar, the UAE’s clean energy firm, has secured $225 million in financing for a 300-megawatt solar plant and 75-megawatt-hour battery storage system in Uzbekistan’s Kashkadarya region.
Backed by the EBRD, Canada, Finland, Japan, and the Asian Development Bank, the project will power about 60,000 homes and cut over 400,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.
Developed under a public-private partnership with Uzbekistan’s national grid, it supports the country’s 2030 renewable target.
Masdar has invested over $2 billion in Uzbekistan since 2021, including the first utility-scale solar plant and a planned standalone battery project.
