The Manipur government, under President’s Rule, has launched a ₹523 crore rehabilitation package to resettle around 60,000 IDPs displaced by ethnic violence since May 2023. The phased plan prioritizes families with partially damaged homes, those receiving housing under PMAY-G within their districts, and inter-district relocations between Valley and Hill areas, contingent on security, land, funding, and livelihood feasibility. Over 300 relief camps remain operational, with about 10,000 resettled so far. Protests in Imphal on January 12 prompted the Governor to reaffirm efforts for a safe, gradual return.
