India disburses ₹643.50 lakh to Sikkim’s rural bodies for development projects in 2025-26.
The Union Government has released the first instalment of the XV Finance Commission Untied Grants for Sikkim’s rural local bodies for 2025-26, totaling ₹643.50 lakh.
The funds are distributed to five District Panchayats and 199 Gram Panchayats to support development across 29 constitutional subjects, excluding salaries.
Additionally, ₹17.50 lakh previously withheld has been released to one more District Panchayat.
The grants, recommended by the Ministries of Panchayati Raj and Jal Shakti and disbursed by the Ministry of Finance in two annual instalments, aim to strengthen local governance and service delivery, particularly in sanitation, drinking water, waste management, and water conservation.
