Hyundai hired Tesla’s former robotics lead to boost AI and humanoid robot development, including its new Atlas robot.
Hyundai Motor Group has named Milan Kovac, former Tesla Optimus program head, as an adviser and outside director of Boston Dynamics, its U.S. robotics subsidiary, to boost its AI and robotics efforts.
The move supports Hyundai’s expansion in humanoid robotics, including the production-ready Atlas robot unveiled at CES, with plans to build a factory producing 30,000 units annually by 2028.
The company also appointed former Tesla and Nvidia engineer Park Min-woo to lead its advanced vehicle platform division and 42dot, aiming to strengthen software-defined vehicles and autonomous driving.
Since Atlas’s debut, Hyundai’s stock has risen over 34%, outperforming the broader market.
