A $10-billion green ammonia project in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, is set to begin major construction with a ceremonial equipment erection on January 17, 2026.
The AM Green project, backed by Indian and international investors, will transform an existing facility into the world’s largest green ammonia complex, with a planned capacity of 1.5 million tonnes annually by 2030.
It will integrate 7.5 gigawatts of solar and wind power, 1,950 megawatts of electrolyzer capacity, and India’s first pumped hydro storage system to enable round-the-clock renewable energy.
The facility aims to export green ammonia to Germany, Japan, and Singapore for clean shipping fuel and power generation, marking India’s entry as a clean energy exporter.
The project is expected to create thousands of jobs and position Andhra Pradesh as a central hub in India’s green energy value chain.
