Arkansas National Guard deployment in D.C. extended for 90 days to continue security efforts.
Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has extended the Arkansas Army National Guard’s deployment in Washington, D.C., by 90 days, allowing about 100 soldiers to continue supporting civil security operations with the D.C. National Guard.
The troops, part of the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade, have been in the National Capital Region since late November 2025, conducting patrols and law enforcement support under a federally funded mission.
Governor Sanders cited a 60% drop in murders, 50% fewer robberies, and 70% reduction in carjackings compared to the prior year, along with over 6,000 arrests and 600 illegal guns seized since the broader Department of War mission began in August 2025.
The extension reflects ongoing state and federal collaboration on public safety in the capital.
