April McLaughlin sentenced to 2 years in prison for animal cruelty, fraud, and stealing from her mother and donors.
April McLaughlin, 35, was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison for animal cruelty and fraud, with credit for two years already served, meaning she will serve about two years.
The sentence follows her guilty pleas to charges stemming from the 2023 seizure of over 55 dogs from her Chandler home, many in severe condition, with five found dead in a freezer.
She operated a nonprofit dog rescue using fake identities, stole over $160,000 from her elderly mother, and misused more than $47,000 in donations.
McLaughlin received seven years of probation, must pay $173,000 in restitution, and is banned from owning animals.
