Q Energy France and Hanwha Ocean advance offshore wind plans off Nova Scotia, aiming for 2035 operation.
A French renewable energy company, Q Energy France, and its South Korean partner Hanwha Ocean are advancing plans for offshore wind development off Nova Scotia’s coast, having met early pre-qualification criteria set by the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Energy Regulator.
The project, part of a broader effort to expand the region’s renewable energy capacity, could support Canada’s electricity needs and be operational by 2035 if approved.
The regulator is evaluating four ocean areas for the Wind West project, including repurposing an old gas pipeline corridor for transmission.
