Nigeria’s Dangote Refinery now produces over 50 million liters of clean fuel daily, ending shortages and cutting imports.
Nigeria’s Dangote Refinery, now operating at full capacity, has ended fuel shortages and is supplying over 50 million litres of Euro V-compliant petrol daily, according to CEO David Bird.
The refinery, which runs 24/7 and dispatches over 1,000 trucks daily, has stabilized domestic prices and reduced reliance on imports.
It processes diverse crude and exports globally, while conserving foreign exchange through a crude-for-naira deal.
Plans include expanding into petrochemicals and a future stock exchange listing.
Despite the success, the project highlights Africa’s broader challenge: a lack of skilled technicians due to decades of underfunded vocational education, forcing reliance on foreign labor even for major national projects.
