Nebraska Governor calls for probe after senator removed PragerU history exhibit from Capitol.
Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen has called for a criminal investigation after Senator Machaela Cavanaugh removed a temporary American history exhibit from the state Capitol, which featured items from a PragerU-produced display tied to the U.S. 250th anniversary.
Security footage shows Cavanaugh took several panels on January 7 and placed them in her office, citing Capitol rules against wall-mounted displays.
Pillen, a Republican, said similar actions by a private citizen would face consequences and directed the State Patrol to refer the matter to law enforcement.
Cavanaugh apologized, stating she was unaware the exhibit was authorized and that such displays typically go in the rotunda.
No damage occurred, and while law enforcement confirmed no active investigation, the incident drew attention from conservative media.
The exhibit remains on display through the summer.
