Manitoba freezes milk prices at 2025 levels to ease costs, with limits up to $2.10 per litre.
Manitoba will freeze the retail price of one-litre milk at 2025 levels in 2026, with maximum prices set at $2.10 for homogenized, $2.03 for two per cent, $1.97 for one per cent, and $1.93 for skim milk, higher in remote areas.
The move, announced by Premier Wab Kinew, follows a proposed four-cent increase by the Farm Products Marketing Council and aims to ease consumer costs while allowing farmgate prices to rise with production expenses.
The province is also considering extending price controls to larger milk containers and studying broader grocery pricing practices, with further details expected in the upcoming budget.
