Manant Vaidya settles with Boeing over 2019 Ethiopian crash that killed 157, including 18 Canadians.
Manant Vaidya, a Brampton, Ont., man who lost six family members in the 2019 Ethiopian Airlines 737 Max 8 crash, has reached a confidential settlement with Boeing just before a trial in Chicago.
The crash, which killed all 157 on board, including 18 Canadians, was caused by a flawed automated system responding to faulty sensor data.
Boeing acknowledged legal responsibility, expressed deep sorrow, and committed to fair compensation, resolving most family claims through settlements.
The company also avoided criminal charges in a separate U.S. Justice Department deal.
While some families continue legal action, Boeing stated it respects their right to pursue claims and remains committed to resolving outstanding cases.
