IDT CEO Tebogo Malaka resigned effective January 31, 2026, following a bribery scandal involving a video where she allegedly offered R60,000 to a journalist and a forensic report linking her to an irregular R836-million oxygen plant tender.
She stepped down without severance, as did former spokesperson Phasha Makgolane, ahead of disciplinary hearings.
Acting CEO Sfiso Nsibande will remain in place while a permanent replacement is sought.
The IDT affirmed its cooperation with ongoing investigations, and South Africa’s Minister of Public Works welcomed the resignations, stressing that legal actions may still proceed.
