Christopher Bovell, a former Jamaican senator, attorney, and longtime leader in the Jamaica Labour Party and Bustamante Industrial Trade Union, has died at 86.
He served as JLP treasurer from 1983 to 1989, was a Supreme Court bar member since 1964, and a GraceKennedy director for 30 years.
Bovell remained a BITU trustee after retiring in 2024, contributing to the union’s stability and integrity.
Honored for his dedication to workers’ rights, the rule of law, and transparency, he received the Order of Distinction, Commander class.
The JLP and BITU mourned his passing, praising his principled leadership and lasting legacy.
