ED seeks suspension of West Bengal cops over alleged obstruction of money-laundering probe.

The Enforcement Directorate has requested that the Supreme Court of India suspend senior West Bengal police officers and take departmental action because they allegedly interfered forcibly with a search at I-PAC's Kolkata office and director's home on January 8, obstructing a money-laundering investigation. The ED alleges that officers failed to arrest suspects or file FIRs despite witnessing crimes, and that digital evidence was unlawfully obtained in violation of the PMLA and BNSS. Additionally, it charges Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the West Bengal government with meddling in the investigation into a coal-pilferage scam. The plea will be heard by the Supreme Court today.
