The Patriots bolstered their practice squad with four players ahead of their playoff game against Houston.
The New England Patriots added cornerback Miles Battle, running back D’Ernest Johnson, tackle Lorenz Metz, and wide receiver Trent Sherfield Sr. to their practice squad ahead of their Divisional Round playoff game against the Houston Texans.
The moves came after releasing defensive lineman Fabien Lovett and wide receiver Brandon Smith.
Johnson, a 29-year-old veteran, had played in seven games for New England in 2025, contributing on offense and special teams.
Battle, a 25-year-old rookie free agent, previously played for the Kansas City Chiefs and had brief stints with the Patriots in 2024 and 2025.
Metz, a 26-year-old offensive tackle from Germany, joined through the International Player Pathway Program after spending two seasons on Tampa Bay’s practice squad.
Sherfield, a nine-year NFL veteran, played in 12 games for Denver and Arizona in 2025.
The signings aim to strengthen depth for the playoff matchup.
