Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown announced no charges will be filed against Officer Michael McKee, who shot and killed 23-year-old Micah Booker during a June 9, 2025, encounter in Howard County. Booker, who had stabbed his brother and called 911, was armed with a spear, knife, and pepper spray, and refused to drop the weapons despite commands. Body camera footage showed him charging at the officer, prompting two shots. The Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division found the officer’s actions justified under Maryland law, concluding there was no criminal wrongdoing. The medical examiner ruled the death a homicide. No further charges are expected.
