Lionsgate has sold its Lionsgate Play streaming service in South and Southeast Asia to Rohit Jain, the platform’s president and founder, in a deal worth up to $30 million.
Jain, a Lionsgate veteran who led the service’s growth over eight years, will take full ownership, while Lionsgate retains its film and TV distribution operations in the region.
The sale includes an upfront payment and future tranches, with Lionsgate licensing its brand and content library to Lionsgate Play under a multi-year agreement.
The platform serves around 5 million subscribers and offers over 1,000 hours of content, including Hollywood, Bollywood, and original series.
