Indonesia allocates $19.8B for 2026 free meal program feeding 82M vulnerable people.
Indonesia has allocated 335 trillion rupiah ($19.8 billion) from its state budget for the 2026 free meal program, which provides nutritious meals to 82 million low-income children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and toddlers.
The program, launched in January 2025, aims to combat malnutrition and stunting while stimulating local economies by paying meal preparation units upfront.
Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto said the quarterly disbursement of nearly 80 trillion rupiah will boost consumption, production, and job creation, potentially contributing up to 7% to national economic growth.
