CPC oil exports resume after drone attacks and storms, but remain 70% behind schedule.
After a five-day suspension due to winter storms, the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal started loading oil again on January 13, 2026, but exports are still 70% behind schedule. Drones struck four Greek-managed tankers, including the Matilda and Delta Harmony, close to the terminal, resulting in minor damage and small fires, but all of the vessels remained seaworthy and no injuries were reported. Due to damaged mooring points and continuous storm disruptions, the CPC, which manages more than 80% of Kazakhstan's oil exports, is only operating at roughly half capacity. Operations had already been affected by a previous drone attack in November, which led to a 35% decrease in Kazakhstan's oil and gas production. The attacks are connected to larger attempts to interfere with Russian energy infrastructure, although Ukraine has not taken responsibility.
