B.C. RCMP Const. Mersad Mesbah was fired on January 13, 2026, after a conduct hearing found he made 34 vulgar, sexist, racist, and degrading comments over two-and-a-half years via police terminals and a private Signal chat. A police adjudicator ruled his behavior breached core RCMP values and undermined public trust, despite Mesbah’s admission of four inappropriate remarks and claims of venting job frustrations. He had been suspended since July 2021, spending more time off duty than on active service. The case is part of a larger investigation involving two other Coquitlam RCMP officers, one of whom resigned and another whose hearing is pending.
