Arkansas PBS ends PBS affiliation due to funding cuts, shifting to local content by June 2026.
Arkansas TV, formerly Arkansas PBS, has ended its affiliation with the national Public Broadcasting Service due to federal funding cuts and the dissolution of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
CEO Carlton Wing said the station will shift to locally produced content and more affordable programming to ensure sustainability, aiming to reduce annual losses from $2.25 million to $1 million.
The change, effective by June 2026, follows a 6-2 vote by the Arkansas Educational Television Commission.
While specific new programming details were not released, the station plans to maintain similar service for viewers.
