Anthony Burns, 63, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for causing the deaths of two Ryanair pilots, Matthew Greenhalgh, 28, and Jamie Fernandes, 24, in a July 11, 2024, crash on the M62 motorway.
Burns, driving a lorry at 56mph in a 40mph zone during wet conditions, struck a stationary Uber taxi carrying the pilots, crushing it between two trucks.

No evidence of impairment, distraction, or mechanical failure was found.
Burns, with 28 prior convictions, admitted to dangerous driving and showed remorse.
