A 23-year-old Sudbury woman, Megan Parent, says the Crown’s office failed to properly represent her after a March 2025 workplace assault at a Val Caron bar, where she was grabbed by the hair, dragged, and injured during a busy event. She was not informed of the court date, never asked to provide a victim impact statement, and disputes claims she was uninjured or compensated for a damaged $500 chain. Parent, who suffered whiplash, a concussion, and ongoing pain, learned of the case through a news report and expressed frustration that surveillance footage was not shown in court. She criticized the Crown’s handling and called for improved victim support in the justice system.
