A UMass Lowell radio volunteer resigned after a deleted post threatening JD Vance sparked federal investigation, though no charges were filed.
A volunteer radio host at WUML, a student-run station funded by UMass Lowell, has resigned after authorities confirmed they were aware of a deleted social media post on Bluesky in which the individual, an alumnus, wrote “It’s simple, we kill JD Vance.” The post followed criticism of Vice President Vance’s foreign policy.
UMass Lowell police, the FBI, Secret Service, and Haverhill police were involved, with the Secret Service confirming awareness but finding no immediate threat.
The individual, who has since stepped down and deleted the post, was not charged.
UMass Lowell stated the rhetoric violates its values and democratic principles.
The FBI declined to comment.
