Starting February 1, 2026, travelers at North Carolina airports without REAL ID-compliant identification must pay a $45 fee for identity verification through the TSA ConfirmID program.
The fee, required for those without a U.S. passport, enhanced driver’s license, trusted traveler card, or other approved IDs, covers a 10-day travel period and must be paid in advance.
Passengers must present a receipt and another form of ID at checkpoints.
The deadline to obtain compliant ID is January 31, 2026.
The program aims to enhance security while offering a temporary solution for non-compliant travelers.
