Sotheby’s to auction rare American whiskey collection valued at $1.17M–$1.68M on Jan. 24, 2026.
Sotheby’s will auction a 360-bottle American whiskey collection on January 24, 2026, in New York, estimated at $1.17 million to $1.68 million—the most valuable single-owner American whiskey sale ever.
The collection, featuring rare bottles from Van Winkle, Old Fitzgerald, Buffalo Trace, Michter’s, Wild Turkey, and Red Hook Rye, includes a 1982 Old Rip Van Winkle 20 Year Old and a 1950 Very Very Old Fitzgerald “Blackhawk” bottling.
Pennsylvania is also holding three limited-release whiskey lotteries through January 16, offering 1,434 bottles from Van Winkle, BTAC, and E.H. Taylor, with one entry per household allowed per drawing.
