Operation Safer Sands, a joint effort by NSW Police, NPWS, and highway patrols, continued summer beach safety operations in Port Stephens, focusing on Stockton and Samurai beaches and Worimi Conservation Lands.
Over the weekend, officers checked nearly 440 vehicles, interacted with 1,259 people, conducted 112 breath tests and 35 drug tests, issuing 21 traffic infringements, including one speeding case over 20 km/h above the limit and one reckless driving charge, along with a seatbelt violation and 29 permit breaches.
The initiative, using unmarked four-wheel drives, marked vehicles, and trail bikes, will run through the summer school holidays to ensure public safety.
