Muhammad Ali, the legendary boxer and cultural icon, is being honored with a U.S. commemorative postage stamp, the first official tribute from the U.S.
Postal Service.
Released on January 12, 2026, the Forever Stamp features a 1974 black-and-white photo of Ali in his boxing stance and a second image of him in a pinstripe suit, symbolizing his activism and humanitarian work.
The first-day-of-issue ceremony took place in Louisville, Kentucky, his hometown.
Printed in a limited run of 22 million, the stamps are valid for First-Class Mail indefinitely and will not be reprinted.
The project, which began after Ali’s 2016 death, involved public advocacy, committee review, and design by USPS art director Antonio Alcalá.
His widow, Lonnie Ali, praised the honor as a lasting tribute to his legacy of compassion and connection.
