Michael McKee faces extradition to Ohio to stand trial for the Dec. 30, 2025, double murder of his ex-wife and her husband in Columbus.
Michael McKee, 39, of Chicago, has waived extradition and will be moved from Illinois to Ohio to face charges in the December 30, 2025, double murder of his ex-wife Monique Tepe and her husband, dentist Spencer Tepe, in their Columbus home. McKee was arrested in Rockford, Illinois, after being linked to a vehicle in surveillance footage. He appeared in court wearing a yellow jumpsuit, did not enter a plea, and his attorney said he plans to plead not guilty. The victims, married in 2020, were killed while their two young children were found unharmed. McKee and Monique were married from 2015 to 2017 and had no children together. The arrest occurred one day before a planned celebration of life. The family thanked law enforcement and emphasized their focus on honoring the victims and supporting their children. A status hearing on the transfer is set for January 19, 2026.
