An Irish cattle auction app launched by a woman boosts sales and welfare for TB-restricted herds.

A female-led Irish livestock mart, Kingscourt Mart, has launched an online auction system via the MartEye app, enabling Controlled Finishing Units to bid on cattle from bovine TB-restricted herds, resulting in over 1,000 sales in six months. The platform, developed by Lisa Keenan after pandemic-era farm filming efforts, boosts competition, improves prices, and reduces stress for farmers. It addresses financial and animal welfare challenges from herd restrictions and features notable gender diversity, including two female drovers. The model is now being adopted by other marts.
