An Indian student died and two were injured in a Kazakhstan accident during a trip from Semey Medical University.

One Indian student, Mili Mohan, died and two others were injured in a road accident in Oskemen, Kazakhstan, on January 13, 2026, while returning from an excursion to the Altai Mountains with 11 fellow students from Semey Medical University. The Indian Embassy confirmed the incident, stating the injured students are in stable condition and receiving treatment at City Hospital No. 1. The Embassy expressed condolences and is coordinating with university and hospital officials, as well as the students’ families. The Altai Mountains, a transboundary region spanning multiple countries, are a UNESCO World Heritage site.
