In a January 12, 2026, Instagram post, he cited internal bias, teammate mockery of a photo with his partner, and a toxic locker room environment as reasons for his reduced playing time.
He said the experience damaged his mental health and made him question coming out, though he now plays regularly in England and feels renewed passion for football.
Adelaide United denied the claims, stating all selections were based on merit and reaffirming its commitment to inclusion.
The club has not issued further comment.
